Illinois

LaSalle County 138 kV Lines in Northern Illinois Project

 

Project Description: This project will install a pair of 138 kV transmission lines linking LaSalle and Ottawa to a forthcoming substation in Wedron. The LaSalle and Ottawa lines are 24.5 miles and 10.5 miles in length, respectively.
  
Project Cost:
Approximately $29.8 million. Ameren Transco will fund and own 90 percent of the project during construction and AmerenIP will own the remaining 10 percent. Once the project is in service, AmerenIP will have the right to acquire Ameren Transco’s 90 percent share.
  
Project Status:
Evidentiary hearing for a certificate of Convenience and Necessity was made with the Illinois Commerce Commission in September 2007. The anticipated in service date for the LaSalle line is June 1, 2009.

Project Benefits:
This project will meet load growth in the Illinois Valley area and enhance the current transmission infrastructure in Illinois.
  

Prairie State 1650 MW IPP Connection Transmission Project

 

Project Description: This project will construct 44 circuit miles of 345 kV transmission in southwestern Illinois passing through four counties to interconnect a coal-fired plant being developed by Peabody Energy Corp. Two lines tap into existing circuits, and one new circuit ties Baldwin to Rush Island.
  
Project Cost:
The estimated cost is $87 million. Ameren Transco will fund and own 90 percent of the project during construction and AmerenIP will own the remaining 10 percent. Once the project is in service, AmerenIP will have the right to acquire Ameren Transco’s 90 percent share.
  
Project Status:
Open House for the construction of the 1,650 MW, coal-fired power plant on the western edge of Washington County, Illinois, was held by Peabody Energy Oct. 1, 2007. The certificate of public convenience and necessity was granted by the Illinois Commerce Commission on May 16, 2007. It is anticipated that all three Prairie State lines will be complete by May 2010.

Missouri

Loose Creek-Mariosa Delta 345 kV and 161 kV Central Missouri Development

 

Project Description: The 345 kV transmission line, called Loose Creek-Mariosa, will be approximately 11 miles long, from the Loose Creek switching station to the new Mariosa Delta 345/161 kV substation, the upgrade or addition to six substations and a 25 miles of 161 kV lines to tie the substations together.
  
Project Cost
: The estimated cost is $32.5 million.
  
Project Status
: The 345 kV line is under construction with a scheduled in service of June 1, 2008. The Loose Creek switching station was placed in service with the Callaway-Franks line addition on December 14, 2006. The Mariosa Delta 345 kV substation is under construction with a scheduled in service date of June 1, 2008. This 345 kV supply is the final phase in strengthening the supply to the Missouri State Capital vicinity. Previous steps include the 161 kV lines looping Apache Flats, Zion, Mariosa Delta, and Moreau. These plus Guthrie and California substations were upgraded as well. A new Loy-Martin substation was placed in service in 2006.

Project Benefits
: This line and substation will provide load relief to the existing Montgomery-Guthrie 161 kV line and voltage support for the Jefferson City area and capacity for future growth.
